Giveaway this Wednesday!

This is a short post to remind you I am drawing a name in my first giveaway of 2016 on Wednesday (January 13). I’m planning to have other draws as the year progresses, when I find things I can easily mail out.  This could turn into my year of giveaways!

Please note in my right sidebar I have a Milestone widget that’s counting down the days to the draw date. Each time I hold a giveaway I’ll be using that to make it easy for everyone. When you come to visit you’ll know what to look for and easily see the important details of the immediate upcoming draw.

I would love it if YOU would help me get started by entering your name in my draw for this month. See my first post about it HERE with lots of pictures. Perhaps you don’t use anything but electronic/digital anymore. If that’s the case, you may have a friend who would appreciate having this planner. You could enter your name to try to win it for them. Or send them here to try for themselves.

2016 planner

I feel as if I’m begging here, pleading for people to enter my draw! Well, okay…. PLEASE enter my draw, and tell your friends about it. The more the merrier, so they say.  Of course, if no one else puts their name in the draw those who did have a much better chance of winning. 🙂

Just leave your comment telling me why you prefer using a paper planner to an electronic/digital one.

Happy January everyone!

My first GIVEAWAY of 2016! Your chance to win!

Hello, everyone!  Happy New Year (again)!

I decided to start this year off with a small giveaway

I like pocket planners. I know so many people now use their phones but I prefer to use a paper planner, so I’d been trying to find one for 2016. It seems around here they were in very short supply this year but I finally found this pretty pink one.  (Yes, I like pink.) It’s not actually quite as brilliant pink as shown below.

2016 plannerThis little planner is 3 1/2″ x  6 3/4″ and barely 1/4″ thick.

The reason I am giving this one away is because a dear friend gave me one for Christmas and I don’t need both. If YOU can use it and would like to enter a draw to try to win it, I will be pleased to mail it to whomever’s name is drawn.

Here are a few shots of the inside pages.

This 2016 planner has the 2017 calendar on the back page, a measuring guide in inches in the front and in the back it’s in centimeters. Each month takes up two facing pages so you see the whole month at a glance. There’s room on the first page for your personal information, also several pages for phone numbers (or email addresses) you want to keep handy, a few pages for your notes in the back, and a section for travel/expense records for each month. Oh, and it is in both English and French.

If you want to try to win this handy 2016 monthly pink pocket planner, just leave a comment telling me why you prefer a paper planner to using an electronic one.

2016 planner.2

I want to give people enough time to enter, but since this is for a planner and it’s already nearly a week into the first month, this contest time will be short. I will use Random.org name picker to draw out one name on Wednesday next week.

The draw will be January 13th at 10:00 PM AST. (That’s 9:00 EST)

Pass the word around and be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win!

A little misery, a little excitement!, and something for you

 A little misery

Remember in my July 31 post I mentioned sore throat issues? yes, well … I went to the clinic the next day and it’s a good thing I did. Fever, laryngitis caused by inflammation, sore throat caused by infection — I needed medical help. The young doctor (aren’t most of them young these days – as in the age of my children? what’s up with that!) gave me prescriptions to start the healing process.

Two prescriptions, one was only one tablet. One. But it was powerful. The idea was to make me feel better by evening, which it did. The catch? The pharmacist warned me to not take it at bedtime or I wouldn’t sleep, so I took it after a necessarily late dinner (early afternoon). And did I sleep? Nope! Not much. I didn’t drop off until somewhere around 2:30 AM followed by howling, barking neighbourhood dogs rudely waking me at 3:00! I was NOT happy.

And I had a difficult time getting back to sleep. I didn’t do much more than restless tossing and turning between short naps after that, until I heard Dad get up all-too-soon. There ended my chance to wrestle illusive sleep into submission, until my respite arrived mid-morning for the one full day I have scheduled. Misery and I took advantage of that time.

It’s been a less than delightful week for me, health-wise, but it could have been worse. Maybe a week of rest at home and the round of penicillin will do the trick.

It’s also been hot and humid this week, but today we were blessed with refreshing, much-needed rain – a downpour with a glorious crashing thunderstorm. I really enjoy that particular drama of nature. At one point the sun broke through in the midst of the rain – so beautiful! It’s been too dry here this summer, not at all good for the crops, so today’s soaking was welcome.

Thank you for the whine time; I appreciate it.  🙂  Now for  …

A little excitement!

For those of you who enjoy the writing and creative successes of Delia Ephron – and hopefully you read my review of her new book The Lion Is In – guess what? Ms. Ephron has graciously agreed to an interview here on my blog! Yay! I’m a little excited. Well, okay, more than a little. I am squeal-in-excitement excited! She is a renowned, very talented writer and seems like such a nice lady – I am looking forward to the interview. Watch for that coming up soon. 🙂

and something for you

Yes, dear readers, there is something for you. Well, one of you. After you all get to read my interview with Delia Ephron, leave a comment and then ONE of you will win a copy of The Lion Is In from the publisher, Blue Rider Press. How great is that! The only drawback is that the publisher has stipulated the winner must not live outside Canada or the US. Please comment anyway, though, because I always want to know your thoughts and opinions. My blog has no boundary limitations. 🙂

What has your summer been like so far? Any miseries? Excitement? Surprises?

Thanks for reading, and … Creative Musings!  🙂

Interview and book-giveaway coming soon!

It is a stormy night here, snow, freezing rain, wind. Nice night to be home snuggled in where it is warm and dry.

For your information: An interview with Laura Best is in the works. Soon I will post it here for your enjoyment. Also, I will be offering a free copy of her book to someone who posts a comment on my blog in response to that interview, duplicates will not be included. I will write down all names and put all the little slips of paper into a basket, then I will have my husband draw one out. The winner will receive a copy of Bitter, Sweet – by Laura Best and donated by Nimbus Publishing. Yay!

Before the interview is posted I will fine tune the details. So stay tuned!

Day 18: NaNoWriMo & PiBoIdMo & a Giveaway

Thursday, Day 18 of NaNoWriMo and I am still not up to the halfway mark with my word count.  I seem to be in a less creative place in my story, too.  Maybe tomorrow it will get better.  I wrote 1251 words tonight, bringing my total up to 23728, which is 48% of the 50,000 words challenge.  My stats tell me “At this rate you will finish on Dec 10.”  I do need to step it up!

I thought I would have to post the following:

I hate to say this, but … I am still thinking regarding an idea for PiBoIdMo!  It’s a good thing I am ahead of where I should be because I have nothing for today.  That is NOT GOOD.  If I get an idea before I quit for the night I will count it as for day 18.  (Is that cheating?)

BUT, now I don’t have to say all that .. 😉 .. because a new idea just came to me.   woo hoo!  That makes idea 29 on day 18 of the Picture Book Idea challenge.   So, just ignore the part in italics.  🙂

Check this out:  http://scotiatoday.ca/nova-scotia-ns-canada/life/36-slightly-off-center/1683-happy-birthday-give-away.html

It’s a giveaway because three people in the one family are celebrating birthdays on the same upcoming weekend.  I’ve added the blog to my list here, too.

Do you like to enter such contests?
