NaNoWriMo = National Novel Writing Month
On this page I am going to try, for my third year in a row, to keep an updated word count throughout the NaNoWriMo challenge, posting every day – if possible. The goal is 50,000 words from November 1-30, which means an average of 1667 words a day! Unfortunately, I started with a limp since I wrote nothing on my novel those first 24 hours.
Even though this is my third NaNo I still need all the encouragement you can spare me. 
If I’m really honest about this, I’m more than a little unsure that I will be able to get deep into NaNoWriMo 2012. With all that’s going on in my little world right now it will be interesting to see how this turns out. I even have nudges and reminders coming to me through emails: NaNoWriMo Tips for Procrastinating Writers. *cough* Me? a procrastinator? *blush*

Day 1: 0 words
Day 2: 0 words (still thinking about writing … really I am!)
Day 3: 0words (don’t give up on me yet)
Day 4: 0 words (rereading the 82,000 words written in ’10/’11)
Day 5: 157 words (I finally started writing; a late, tiny step, but a start)
Day 6: 1010 = total of 1167 words (taking longer to get back into this than expected)
Day 7: 1390 = total of 2557 words (getting on track now, starting to feel the story)
Day 8: 230 = total of 2787 words (busy day away from writing)
Day 9: 2284 = total of 5071 words (Yay! I’ve added 10% of my goal to my novel and I just earned myself a fun badge!)
Day 10: 546 = total of 5617 words (not much today, but got up to 11%)
Day 11: 708 = total of 6325 words (that equals 12%)
Day 12: 0 = total of 6325 words
Day 13: 2010 = total of 8335 words (16% added to it now)
Day 14: 330 = total of 8665 words (17%)
Day 15: 0 = total of 8665 words
Day 16: 0 = total of 8665 words (busy on my birthday, no writing)
Day 17: 0 = total of 8665 words
Day 18: 0 = total of 8665 words (only 12 days left!)
Day 19: 1647 = total of 10,312 words (20% written; 11 days left & I finally earned another badge)
Day 20: 3538 = total of 13850 words (my best so far; 27% done; 10 days left!)
Day 21: 1610 = total of 15460 words (30%; only 9 days left!)
Day 22: 3690 = total of 19150 words (38%; 8 days left to write 30850 words!)
Day 23: 2149 = total of 21299 words (42%; 7 days left to write 28701 words!)
Day 24: 352 = total of 21651 words (43%; actually wrote a few more words but forgot to update before midnight, so they will go into Day 25’s total)
Day 25: 52 = total of 217o1 words (too tired to write tonight; 5 days left!)
Day 26: 262 = total of 21965 words (stalled; only 4 days left in challenge)
Day 27: 1706 = total of 23671 words (almost half-way at 47%; 3 days left)
Day 28: 4449 = total of 28120 words (56%; got a new badge!; 2 days left! )
Day 29: 3617 = total of 31737 words (63%; 1 day to write 18263 words!)
Day 30: 9750 = total of 41487 words (unfortunately not a NaNoWriMo win, but 82% written)
I am not able to post my 50K badge here since I didn’t earn it, but I did write every word by hand so I will give myself the badge for that. 🙂
I have now an accumulated total (before any editing) of over 123,000 words written during NaNoWriMo for my novel, but the closest badge I have is this one:
