NaNoWriMo = National Novel Writing Month
Last year I set up a special page here on my blog (see listed under Pages) on which I kept track of my daily updated word count throughout the 2010 NaNoWriMo challenge. Since the goal is 50,000 words from November 1-30, that means an average of 1667 words a day! This year, with all that is changed in my life, I did not report daily – and I signed up as a NaNo Rebel. You can read about that here: https://lynnadavidson.wordpress.com/2011/11/22/im-a-nano-rebel/
At the risk of greatly embarrassing myself, very late into it I am setting up this page to record what it looks like and how it goes when a NaNoWriMo’er may not make the mark. At the time of this writing I have six days left in the challenge, and as you will see, too many words remaining to write to be comfortable. But .. the challenge to myself is on!
Again I got NaNo badges from: http://badger.dinorodeo.com/
Day 1: 0 words
Day 2: 0 words
Day 3: 0 words
Day 4: 0 words
Day 5: 0 words
Day 6: 0 words
Not that I’m proud of it or anything, but it’s a nice badge, don’t you think?

Day 24: 1321 = total of 8722 words
Day 25: 1295 = total of 10017 words; finally got to 10000! 5 days left in which to write 39983 words!

Day 28: 5359= total of 17204 words; 34% completed with 2 days left now!
Day 29: 69 26 = total of 24130 words; 48% completed with 1 day left!
Day 30: 8020 = total of 32150 words; 64% completed. Not a win this year, but a lot of words … every one of them written by hand.
I love how you have recorded everything – the days you found time to write as well as those when you couldn’t. Looking at your page here makes me a whole lot more interested in actually trying. It is enough to commit to the attempt. Any writing is better than none! Thank you for inspiring me! 😉

I am so pleased to have inspired you. 🙂 The main thing about doing NaNoWriMo is there are no losers as long as you write something. The ones who actually meet the goal of 50,000 words in that month are called winners, but really … how can you lose if you have written more than you usually would, or have begun a novel?
I hope you try it, Edith. I’m sure you won’t regret the effort.
