Quotes about change

In this post I am sharing a few quotes about change, since this is my year of change.  🙂  Perhaps they will speak to you or remind you of another quote that has been meaningful to you.

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.Maya Angelou

Your mind is a powerful thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.  – Unknown

All you change is yourself, but sometimes that changes everything!  Gary W. Goldstein

Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.       Jim Rohn

The above quotes are inspiring and encouraging. One thing I want to add is that what I’ve found in my own life is that my efforts to change myself usually end up as a source of discouragement and disappointment, which I think is what often happens to many people who make new year’s resolutions. However, if I let the Lord change me it becomes a reality. A heart change is a real change. It may seem as if I have changed myself when it is the Lord changing me. I like that.

Do you have any inspiring quotes to share about change?

HAPPY NEW YEAR, dear readers!

May God bless your life according to what is suited to you.

Thank you for faithfully visiting my blog. I hope you continue to find things of help and interest to you here.

As we enter a new year, my goal is to write more, read more, and progress forward to publication.  (I don’t set resolutions.)

What are your goals for 2016?

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2014 has arrived!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

A new year has arrived, our calendars are fresh and ready, the resolutions are in place and waiting to be broken. 😉

Is that unfair and negative?

Are you a person who works very hard to keep their new year’s resolutions, or do you give up in despair a few weeks in?

Or,

Are you like me and don’t really make new year resolutions?

Do tell! Share with me what your resolutions are for 2014, or if you didn’t bother to make them at all – why not?

This is my week at Dad’s, so some of the family came here for the evening to make it easier on him. There were nine of us plus a guest who stayed a little while. We played table games, had yummy snacks and drinks, and then at midnight our son-in-law and daughter set off a fun display of fireworks they had brought for the occasion. That was quite enjoyable, and I’m sure the neighbours got to watch a lot of it, too.

How did you see the new year in? Did you do anything grand or special?

I wish you blessings for a truly HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New year, new plans, blog updates

How did a new year get here so quickly! Already I am having to adjust to writing new numbers ..  2 0 1 2 .. and hoping I don’t make some dumb dating mistakes. (dating on paper – cheques, letters – to clarify that meaning. 🙂 ) This set of numbers seems odd to realize, though. And there are those who believe this year will bring monumental change .. world ending? oh, who knows! Does it really matter whether we even know when it’s coming or not? It ends when it ends, there is nothing we can do about it. If we worry about having time to make things right with God or someone else, then it’s best not to wait .. do it now! Personally, I’m not worried. I’ll just keep living my life and trusting God through it all.

But I do have new plans, or maybe it is just an amped up version of the old plans. Reading and writing. Writing and reading. I have signed up for #MOP (Month of Poetry) which means I am to write a poem a day this month, and I also signed up for 12×12 in 2012 so that the story ideas I compiled in November the last two years through PiBoIdMo can be shaped into story books .. twelve of them! One a month. Hopefully, I can expound upon those two writing ventures in later posts, as time allows.

In case you didn’t notice, I updated my blog pages a bit, too. And I hope to find a better theme for my blog, one that will accommodate the extra badges I want and should put up. Not all of them will show right now so there must be a limit on this theme. Eventually, I will get ‘er done, and I hope you will not mind the in-between time until I get it right.

What are your goals for 2012? Notice I didn’t say resolutions, I seem to fail with those, but maybe you succeed? Do tell!

What are your dreams and plans for this new year? I’d love to hear about them.

Maybe you are already on the road to something new and wonderful? I’m ready to enjoy your story.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Did you make resolutions?

Wow!  It is 2011 already!  HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!

First, thank you for your support in reading my ramblings here.  I appreciate you very much.  🙂

I had intended to post here for Christmas and the New Year, but I got overwhelmed with life and ‘stuff’ and couldn’t fit everything in.  I was busy with all the usual things, but since this is the season I fight depression I had a bit of a struggle right around Christmas.  Same as last year our two youngest daughters did not get home, and our two oldest daughters didn’t come out either but met us at my dad’s in early afternoon for our combined family dinner – only ten of us this year.  It was very quiet here all morning with just my husband and our daughter’s little dog.  Very unusual … the first time in all our years together that it has been just the two of us for Christmas.  I missed our girls.

A sad time for us was that my aunt (Dad’s sister) was dying, and she passed away December 28, her funeral being January 1.  That made for a rather rough end of 2010 and beginning of 2011 for my family.  Not much unlike thirteen years ago when Mum passed away December 30, her funeral being January 2.  Some years I get through the ‘anniversary’ just fine, but this year was not as easy.  I think much of it was that I felt sorrow for my cousins, and it brought everything back more intensely for me.

How was the Christmas season for you?  How did you celebrate the ‘holidays’?

On a lighter note … much to-do is made over New Year’s resolutions.  Several years ago I gave up making them officially, but each new year I plan and hope to “do better”.  This time I determined to ‘go through’ my house one room at a time to ‘fine tune’ things, and I have done one room so far.  I also have business goals to achieve, writing aspirations to focus on, continued publishing of Christian newsletter Valley Sunshine and members’ correspondence to answer.

Last year I did resolve to read more, which you know by the page I set up here – My “have read” book list (Dec 1’09 – Dec 31’10) – where I kept track of my progress.  Since that fun thing went quite well I set up a page for this year, too.  I will finish reading the books of the Bible and add to my list as many more books as I possibly can.  For some I will write reviews and I plan to interview authors as well.

All these are things that interest me that I want to do.  But — I have to remember not to stress myself out when I can’t keep up.  Right?

How is your reading coming along?  Have you been inspired to read anything you have seen mentioned here?  If so, I would love to know about it.  🙂

So, have you made any New Year’s resolutions/set any goals for 2011?

I wish for you a happy, healthy, accomplished 2011.
