New year, new plans, blog updates

How did a new year get here so quickly! Already I am having to adjust to writing new numbers ..  2 0 1 2 .. and hoping I don’t make some dumb dating mistakes. (dating on paper – cheques, letters – to clarify that meaning. 🙂 ) This set of numbers seems odd to realize, though. And there are those who believe this year will bring monumental change .. world ending? oh, who knows! Does it really matter whether we even know when it’s coming or not? It ends when it ends, there is nothing we can do about it. If we worry about having time to make things right with God or someone else, then it’s best not to wait .. do it now! Personally, I’m not worried. I’ll just keep living my life and trusting God through it all.

But I do have new plans, or maybe it is just an amped up version of the old plans. Reading and writing. Writing and reading. I have signed up for #MOP (Month of Poetry) which means I am to write a poem a day this month, and I also signed up for 12×12 in 2012 so that the story ideas I compiled in November the last two years through PiBoIdMo can be shaped into story books .. twelve of them! One a month. Hopefully, I can expound upon those two writing ventures in later posts, as time allows.

In case you didn’t notice, I updated my blog pages a bit, too. And I hope to find a better theme for my blog, one that will accommodate the extra badges I want and should put up. Not all of them will show right now so there must be a limit on this theme. Eventually, I will get ‘er done, and I hope you will not mind the in-between time until I get it right.

What are your goals for 2012? Notice I didn’t say resolutions, I seem to fail with those, but maybe you succeed? Do tell!

What are your dreams and plans for this new year? I’d love to hear about them.

Maybe you are already on the road to something new and wonderful? I’m ready to enjoy your story.

Thanks for reading, and … Creative Musings!  🙂

  1. Your goals for 2012 are impressive. Best of luck. I plan to list mine soon as well. I agree with you, no point worrying about “the end”, better to live life well and to the fullest now. Thanks for being my blogger friend and inspiring me.

  2. Happy New Year, Lynn! My goal is JOY! Not happiness, which depends on external circumstances, but JOY, which I’ve decided to define as my awareness or acknowledgement of God’s presence in my life.

    • Yes!Now that’s a fantastic goal, to be aware of “God with us” and to live in that knowledge. I hope this new year is full of JOY for you, Sue. 🙂

  4. The end of time, no. I believe it was Jesus that said only the
Father knows that appointed date. Do I believe that there will be change, absolutely. If you have watched the last several years, there have been changes on so many levels. Is there anything to be done? I guess be assured in your relationship with your Saviour. Are there steps one can take I guess looking to the word and GOD for guidance. The Word gives us many passages of hope and reassurance, such as the hairs on our head are numbered. If HE looked to that small detail, surely the larger details are not lost in the midst. Just my ponderings on this subject, which I find fascinating and I guess intriguing. How often do we speculate about many aspects of life, never knowing in advance the answer. Part of the human condition?

    • Hi Grayce, You are so right about the appointed time. Change is happening all around us, like it or not, and some days the final word seems to be hanging in the air .. just waiting. Even so, I think it is better that we don’t know the answers.
I am glad you shared your ponderings, thank you. 🙂

    • And I have no doubt you will succeed. 🙂 I hope to do the same but I’m already finding it challenging to keep up with everything. Keep in touch, Erik. We can do this! 🙂

  6. oooooh! I like the new look. It is fresh and feels springy. And in this cold weather – I like that! 🙂

I am revolting against my old ways this year! 🙂

What’s in store for this year? I don’t know. Not worried about it, though. I figure today has enough worries of its own. (I read that in one of fave books!) 🙂 🙂

    • Thanks, Donna, good to see you. 🙂
This “new look” has allowed me to use some of my own photography so that each time you visit there should be a different image in the header, and on every page. (The books photos are not mine.)

Revolting against your old ways sounds like a full time job, if it’s anything like it is for me.

I believe I have read that same Author. 🙂

Thanks for commenting. Blessings in 2012.

    • Thanks, Julie. I confess I’m making no headway thus far, but I plan to make progress after January. I think your idea is a great one and I will be blogging about it soon.

  8. Happy New Year!! Sorry, I’m a bit late. It’s been a hectic two weeks.
Thanks for sharing your goals with us, Lynn. Truthfully, I haven’t given much thought to any goals as this week’s been so busy with family. Right now I can only think about finishing my WIP and beginning a new story that’s been prodding me. I hope I don’t have to wait too long.
