HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2014 has arrived!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

A new year has arrived, our calendars are fresh and ready, the resolutions are in place and waiting to be broken. 😉

Is that unfair and negative?

Are you a person who works very hard to keep their new year’s resolutions, or do you give up in despair a few weeks in?

Or,

Are you like me and don’t really make new year resolutions?

Do tell! Share with me what your resolutions are for 2014, or if you didn’t bother to make them at all – why not?

This is my week at Dad’s, so some of the family came here for the evening to make it easier on him. There were nine of us plus a guest who stayed a little while. We played table games, had yummy snacks and drinks, and then at midnight our son-in-law and daughter set off a fun display of fireworks they had brought for the occasion. That was quite enjoyable, and I’m sure the neighbours got to watch a lot of it, too.

How did you see the new year in? Did you do anything grand or special?

I wish you blessings for a truly HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks for reading, and … Creative Musings!  🙂

  1. I set goals every year and always review them at the end of the year. I usually meet most of them. I’ll be reviewing mine on my New Years blog soon. We haven’t had New Years here yet. Sounds like you had fun.

  4. I made a resolution a number of years ago that I have never broken. Never to make another new year’s resolution. There are definitely things I want to accomplish this year, but no sense putting extra pressure on myself for no good reason. Hope you have a healthy, successful, blessed new year.

    • I feel the same way, Faith. For me it is goals and challenges that work better, as I feel the pressure coming from the concern that resolutions set me up for failure when I divert from the intended resolution. Somehow it’s different with goal-setting and challenging myself to reach those goals, even when I don’t accomplish what I set out to do.
Happy New Year filled with all good things for you and your family.

    • Hi Ceriat, good to see you again! 🙂
Maybe doing something “special” is not what’s important. Maybe simply doing the best we can is what IS important.
      Have a wonderful 2014.

  6. I don’t do resolution either. A niece posted something that struck a cord. Instead of resolution, just trying to do life better. To love better, forgive better, listen better, be more generous in what ever form this may take. To try to do better in my relationship with the LORD. To do life better. : )

    • I like what your niece said, Grayce. That seems to be what is my unspoken goal, to do life better. If we all purposed to do that it would make a huge difference in a positive way in this world.
Thank you for sharing. All the best to you in 2014. 🙂

  7. I make ’em and I break ’em and then I make more. Every day is a good day to start something challenging. Actually I don’t really make resolutions. I call them goals. And I always set goals for myself. I don’t always meet them, but goals keep me focussed.

Happy New Year, Lynn. Many wishes for smashing 2014.

    • I think goals are important to have for oneself. I enjoy a challenge now and then, to get myself motivated again.
Thanks, Diane. I’m sure 2014 will see you accomplishing more of your goals.
