Fun Quiz: how long would you survive an alien invasion?

Hello, Everyone!

Today I thought you might enjoy another fun quiz. This one helps you find out if you would survive an extraterrestrial alien invasion. Of course, it is very important to know this. One must be ready at all times!  (snicker)

alien-spaceshipI have much to do on my week home, starting later this morning, which means my blogging could remain scanty for awhile. There are things I am trying to complete, change, and redirect in my life, and it all takes time when setting a new course. (nautical term)  I will be checking here every day, though, hoping for new comments from you. 🙂  Or you can always send me an email if you prefer. Go to contact page for that if you don’t know my email address.

I already wished a Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends and readers; what are your plans? That day I should have another installment of Writing the Third Dimension to share with you. I expect you’re all very busy getting ready to cook, travel to connect with others, eat a lot, and then shop a lot the next day. Be careful out there!

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I only had a few things, then this week I managed to get out to a Christmas shopping party at which I found some nice items for all my daughters. It’s alarming how little time remains until December 25!

Enough chatter, did I hear you say? Okay, now for …

Be careful where you step!

I hope you all are having a good December thus far. Those of you who celebrate Christmas, are you well into your preparations? I’ll have Dad’s gift-shopping done for him when I pick up two more items. My own? Wellll … that’s another story.

Last evening I twisted my right foot and thought at first I’d sprained my ankle, but no. It was more to the side of my foot and quickly began swelling and then bruising, so I thought perhaps I’d broken a little bone since when it happened I heard ‘snap snap. Poor dear Dad seemed to think my respite help who’d just arrived should call a doctor, but my daughter took me to emerge where x-rays were done. The great young doctor (hmmm… seems everyone is getting younger these days except me!) was very kind and informative. He told me nothing is broken but that I have the worst sprain I could have and it could take six weeks to heal. nice. *sigh* My foot is wrapped and I am to keep off my feet as much as possible for a few days and do nothing. Easier said than done. The doctor wanted me to use crutches, but I assured him that I would surely do more damage to myself on those things. 😉  So he said to use a cane. hmm

The good thing about this is that I am at Dad’s only until this afternoon, then I’m home for a week. I greatly appreciate others who’ve helped out here where needed last night and today.

In case you’re wondering …

stock-vector-caution-signs-figures-falling-tripping-and-slipping-8482108 I didn’t slip on ice or fall into a snowbank or trip on anything or lose my balance walking down the stairs (although I sort of did that last one two weeks ago).

I stepped on a doggie toy I didn’t see .. so it was simple carelessness on my part.  ouch!

Lesson learned. Always look where I’m stepping and be sure toys are not in the walk areas. (I sure don’t want Dad taking a spill!)

Somehow my shopping will get done and Christmas will come regardless of whether I’ve got it all together or not.

As for my blog, I may not be posting this week. My home computer is reachable by navigating stairs and I will likely just stay on the main floor – at least for a few days if I can be a good patient and be patient with myself. THAT’s a challenge.

I hope to get more reading done this week. Or napping. Or daydreaming – which is actually a writer at work, you know.  🙂

Be safe out there, my friends. And inside. Look where you’re stepping.

Have you ever had a ridiculous accident where you’ve broken or twisted something?

NaNoWriMo 2010 is over — I WON!

Yes, NaNoWriMo is over for another year.  If you have not been following my posts — this is the first NaNo challenge for me and I WON!  That means that I met the challenge of writing 50,000 words in 30 days – with a few words over just to be sure – and I now have the certificate to prove it.  Yay!

My ‘novel’ is not completed, though.  I stopped writing in a place where there are three conflicts set up to be resolved, but I think it was a good place to stop for this challenge.  Now I have the personal challenge of completing my ‘novel’ and doing a LOT of editing.

Writing my last post I was SO TIRED, and I had to laugh today when I read it over and saw the typos I made last night.  And I don’t know why I didn’t say in that post’s heading that I had won in NaNo.  Too tired to think it through, I guess.  🙂

Last night I also signed the pledge to verify that I had completed PiBoIdMo, and now we wait to learn who, of all of its participants, win those great prizes that Tara Lazar gathered to give out on December 3 or 4.

Talking to my husband over supper tonight I realized that I really did accomplish quite a bit of writing last month (November) — 50K words for NaNoWriMo, 30 picture book ideas for PiBoIdMo (I actually got 44), and I completed and mailed out the Autumn issue of Valley Sunshine newsletter.

No wonder I’m tired.  I am ending this day early.   Hopefully tomorrow I can get more accomplished in my house than I did today.

And it’s now December!  Time to get my house in order to start decorating for Christmas!

So, how was your day?  Have you started Christmas shopping and decorating?
