Really?? More spam

I really appreciate how WordPress keeps out most of the spam mail that would constantly bombard our blogs if it weren’t for Akismet. There are a few that get put into my spam folder – for me to verify, I suppose. Occasionally, I find a funny one.

In April of 2014 I shared one that was especially amusing. Today I am sharing one with you that came in last week. If I were … someone who is thin-skinned, for example, I would pop onto Twitter or even write a nasty post here in reply or try to write directly to them – as if it would actually get there. And what a mistake that would be if it did! Why bother stooping so low, though, right?

I often wonder what in the world do they think this is going to prove? Such a waste of one’s time and life. Some of these spam comments are so poorly written it’s hilarious.

Take a look at this one:

The the next occasion I read a weblog, I really hope so it doesnt disappoint me around brussels. Come on, man, Yes, it was my option to read, but I just thought youd have some thing intriguing to state. All I hear can be a lot of whining about something that you could fix should you werent too busy searching for attention.

Yes, I’m too busy searching for attention to spend any more time on this post.

Have you received any particularly interesting ones lately?

Thanks for reading, and … Creative a-Musings!  😉

  1. Personally, every time I see the word “weblog”, I immediately think of spammers. Perhaps, this is because spammers are fond of using that term…

    • Good point! Yes, they do seem to like that word.
Welcome to my blog, Edmark. I checked yours, very interesting.

      • Thanks 🙂

I had a job before where I manage a high traffic site and its social media accounts. You can imagine how much spams I had to deal with everyday.

Some of the words that I usually encounter are “weblog”, “SEO”, “Hi Admin”, “I work in Google”, etc…

        • Yes, those keywords are the ones that usually tip me off, too. “Hi Admin” is a biggie in the spam I receive. It does get frustrating some days.
          Thanks for your comments. 🙂

          • Back in the days, saying “Hi Admin” is typical since the format of many websites back then was static (blogs are “dynamic”) and posts didn’t contain the site author’s username. So, people didn’t know the author’s name which is why they called them “Admin”. However, this isn’t the case these days.

            • Oh, that’s very interesting, Edmark. Thank you. I guess it’s the same as in the writing field – it used to be you could just address your letter Dear Editor, but now if you know the name of the editor you fare better using it, and if you don’t know the editor’s name you do all you can to find it out.
