I have been trying to prepare a couple of posts that just won’t ‘take’, and I don’t know why. As a result, I didn’t have a post ready for yesterday, so I am writing a quick one for now. I’m hoping this one works.
I have a fun question for you today …
How common is your name; have you ever wondered?
Have you ever met someone who shares your name, and then you wondered how many other people have it, too? I have often pondered this same thing. Well, now you can find out. At least, that is, you can find out – through an estimate based on the 2000 census – how many people have your name in the United States. On the website it says the 2010 census is not out yet, although the census is done every ten years. I have not found a site for the same thing in Canada.
Curious? Read on.
Recently, I came across an interesting website where you can type in your name and find out how many people in the United States answer to it, too. Click on How many of me to go to the website where I learned there are 103 people in the US with my name. There are other fun statistics there to check out if you want to take the time.
If you give it a try, have fun with it. I’d be very interested in knowing what you find out.
How many people in the US have your name?

There are 184 people in the US that have my name. I’m not surprised, it is a fairly common name. I like it. My first two last names were difficult to say and spell so I told my hubby I was keeping him because I liked my name now!

That’s a lot of Jamie persons! 🙂
Even with that common first name, your combined name has made you quite rare, Jamie. But .. I already knew that about you. 😉

Laughing, Jamie. My name is Sue Harrison and 99.9 percent of people named Sue are women. Hmmm. I always think about that Johnny Cash song and that poor boy named Sue. Anyway, Lynn, thank you for a fun time. 114 in the US have my name. I’m guessing they’re all women.

I would guess the same, Sue. Although, I did hear of a grateful couple in a country where missionaries were ministering — when their son was born they named him after the female missionary – and her name was not a unisex name.

Hi Laura, Since it seemed you didn’t try to find out, I was curious. What I learned is that there are MANY thousands with your first name, thousands with your last name, but I bet you’d be surprised how many have the combined name. 🙂
