Book reviews & author interviews

It has been almost two weeks since NaNoWriMo ended and I have not added to my story yet.  It was so much writing jammed into that month that I lay my pen down and have not picked it up to continue.  I do plan to do that, though, the story is still playing in my head.  And the PiBiIdMo ideas are waiting to be filled out into complete stories, as well.

Although Christmas is two weeks away and I have TONS of things to do, now I am thinking about books and authors.  I have MANY books to read, some older ones and now lots of newer ones (mostly YA) have been added to my waiting reading stash.  But something that has been working around in my mind, besides writing book reviews of some of the books I read, is to attempt interviewing authors.  I have a few authors in mind whom I would like to interview after I read their books.  I think it is great promotion for them, assuming people actually come here to read our conversations.  🙂 And I do believe in helping with that promotion.

What do you think of these ideas?  Would you like to read my book reviews and interviews of authors?

Thanks for reading, and … Creative Musings!  🙂

  1. It always fun to read reviews and interviews, Lynn. I’m also sure the authors would appreciate your support. 🙂

    • Well, Laura, I am seriously considering starting in January 2011. I have to take time to work up a list of questions I should ask – ones that readers would want to know the answers for and would ask if given the opportunity. (I’ll be in touch.) 🙂

  3. Personally, book reviews are not my favorite things to read. However, I recognize the importance of them in the writing community. I’ve done weekly book reviews for a while now because I want to support other authors and recommend books to my readers. I haven’t done any interviews, but I think I would enjoy writing them. It would be nice to get to know the authors better.

    • I understand your viewpoint. I don’t read all book reviews that I come across, but if it is of a topic I am interested in or by an author I like I will usually read it, or if I am looking for a good book to read or buy for someone. I tend to ‘research’ such things.
I’m hoping that the authors I have in mind will be willing to do an interview. We shall see in the New Year.
      Thanks for your input. 🙂

    • Jan, I’m so glad! You are on my list of authors to ask for an interview. It’s a short list thus far, but a list nonetheless.

With the storm and power outage we just had (our power was just restored at noon today) I had extra reading time, much by candlelight and flashlight, since I couldn’t use computer or many other things. It would be wonderful to be able to read more during the holidays, which is what happened for me last Christmas season, too.

Thank you, I’ll be in touch. 🙂

    • Hi Donna. Yes, our power went out Monday night and we got it back at noon on Thursday. We are now experiencing another wind storm, they call it storm surges, and other areas of the province lost power in this storm. So far I don’t have to use a flashlight or candles. 🙂
Thanks for the vote of confidence regarding interviewing authors, and for making yourself available to answer any helps I may need. I appreciate this community so much.
