Another Christmas is past and the clean-up has begun. Where do we put all these new things? Another incentive to purge and declutter?
This year I received a variety of books from several of my loved family and friends. Here is a picture (poor quality – sorry!):

You can see (I hope, despite the dark views) I received the following:
- two adult colouring books with markers and coloured pencils. Have you tried colouring again now you may not be a child anymore?
- a drawing instruction book. Do you love to draw?
- a writers’ book. Do you doubt yourself or push on through?
- a novel. Have you read any of Ken Follett’s series? If so, which is your favourite? or what are you reading?
- a daily devotional and two different types of journals – one for notes of gratitude, one for recording of blessings. Do you refer to any kind of inspirational reading/writing?
These books remind me I am a creative – in a couple of ways. I also love to read so must read more. I have to get writing more, too, including from my Christian perspective. Yes, 2016 is going to be a different kind of year for me, and I already have my word for 2016 which I’ll share in the new year. 🙂
Now, I’m eager to know: What books did you get for Christmas … or during the season, however you celebrate it?

Also an adult coloring book, Lynn, and a book I ordered for myself on Kindle at my granddaughter’s suggestion, a YA distopia by Rick Yancey entitled, THE 5TH WAVE. Can’t put it down. I’m trying to decide how to have a conversation with my 14 year old granddaughter about it, some very adult (not bad-adult, adult-adult) concepts in the book, and also the Christian minor character here and there are portrayed as selfish idiots. Otherwise, really a good read!

Isn’t it interesting and unfortunate how Christians are sometimes portrayed, although everyone has that propensity to some degree, I think. I’ve heard of 5th Wave but haven’t read the book.
Adult colouring is all the rage right now; have fun with that! 🙂

I didn´t get any books for Christmas this year but went for coffee with a friend who gave me a book from her library called Pompeii by Robert Harris. Since I just recently visited this amazing place I am eager to read it. You received a wonderful selection. I am so pleased you got two adult colouring books. I got one for my daughter. I did give many books for Christmas! Happy New Year!!

I would love to read about Pompeii, I bet you’ll enjoy that book. It is such an intriguing and unfortunate disaster that happened there. That’s the kind of thing I like reading about, including if it is well handled in historical fiction. Thanks for sharing.
As for adult colouring, it took me awhile to feel as if I could even attempt it … perfectionism? … but once started I’m finding it is relaxing in small time slots. 🙂

I´ve read 100 pages of the book Pompeii and really like it. It is very detailed and I can see the author did a lot of research. You would like it.

That’s quite a collection you got Lynn. I also got quite a few books but the one that stands out, which I’m currently reading is The Shepherd’s Crown, the last book from (Sir)Terry Pratchett. My sister in law forbids me from buying his new books so I always have to wait until Christmas to read them. So sad to think there will be no more.
